The PLX 45 amplifier is our tribute to the Marshall Plexi paneled JTM 45 of the 60s. As you are probably aware, many famous guitarists have gigged and recorded with the JTM 45. The list includes artist such as; Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Billy F Gibbons of ZZ Top, Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin, just to name a few. The ARACOM PLX 45 offers the same classic tone as an original JTM 45. The PLX 45 is based around the 6L6 family of power amp tubes, which also includes the 5881 and KT66. The tone from these tubes defines the sound of 60s and 70s classic rock and blues. Like the JTM 45, the PLX 45 is known for its sufficient clean head room and its classic rock distortion when fully cranked up.
Great tone from the JTM’s simple architecture is well proven by countless guitarists. These players have proven that simplicity in design is all that it takes to deliver awesome tone, as opposed to some feature rich amplifiers that can often drag the tone down. The PLX 45 is based on the original JTM 45 circuit and is sonic tested against our in-house original mid-sixties blockend JTM 45 amplifier, to ensure the original tone is duplicated.
In addition to the carefully tune circuit, critical components such as; reissue Mustard style capacitors, vintage spec'd resistors and custom wound transformers, ensures the awesome tone of the original JTM 45 is obtained. For the PLX 45 we have custom designed two different styles of output transformers. One is designed around a pair of 6L6 power tubes and the other is designed around a pair of KT66 power tubes.
The PLX 45 is a very versatile amplifier, providing great touch sensitivity and a wide range of tones, especially when controlled by the guitar’s volume control and pick action. The PLX 45 is perfect for a wide spectrum of tones from jazz, grinding blues, classic rock and modern rock.

The PLX50 amplifier is our tribute to the Marshall Plexi paneled JTM 50 that was first offered in 1966. The tube rectified JTM 50 is a rare amp that was supplied during Marshall's transition period, when they decided to change from 6L6 to EL34 power tubes. Shortly afterwards, Marshall phased out the GZ34 tube rectifier in favor of a solid state rectifier circuit. Like the original, early JTM 50 amplifier, the PLX 50 is for those guitarists looking for a tube rectified EL34 equipped amplifier. From the mid 60s through today, the EL34 power tube has been Marshall's preferred power tube. Amps based around the EL34 power tubes are known to break up earlier than amps equipped with the 6L6 power tubes, while providing a tighter distortion. Like our PLX 45, the ARACOM PLX 50 is sonic tested against an original mid-sixties JTM 50 amplifier, to ensure the original tone is duplicated. The impedance of our custom wound output transformer is designed around a pair of EL34 tubes.
For those who prefer a solid state rectifier, please check out our MPL 50 amplifier.
